Its role is specific: it prevents the metal buckle from slipping down the belt. Thanks to it, the buckle always remains within easy reach, in the right place.

Without this system, it would fall downwards, between the seat and the door. As a result, you’d have to search for it every time you used it. A small detail, admittedly… but one that would quickly make all the difference in everyday use.
